This is a letter of appreciation written by Mr. Wall (Regional LA Computer Using Educator of the Year)...

A Brief Thank You:

I have no idea if I will ever be given the opportunity to express my gratitude to the people who made this honor possible for me.  So, I wanted to email everyone involved and let you know exactly how much I appreciate each of you.

School Board and Superintendent Watts:

Thank you to you all for your foresight in understanding the importance of technology in our students’ futures.  Thank you, also, for the support that you provide through the hiring of the right people to help teacher’s to integrate technology so seamlessly into our programs.  Finally, thank you for your leadership that inspires teachers like myself to take on the challenges of the ever changing classroom.

Tammy Seneca:

Thank you for all of your kindness and your relentless effort to bring the best technology tools and training to teachers.  You are always positive and inspiring. Thank you for seeing the best in me and believing it is good enough to be worthy of this honor.

Laree Taylor:

How to thank Ms. Taylor?  Let me see. Thank you for hiring me to work at the best school in any parish.  It is truly an honor to work with you and serve the students and parents of Devall Middle School.  You are a mentor to me and have always guided me through the many educational changes in my career with a focus on student learning.  What is best for the kids?  That is what you always want to see me doing.  This is why technology and literacy are at the fore front of my classroom.  Thank you!

James, Garrett, and Cody:

I literally could not have earned this without you guys!  You make the impossible possible by keeping the Chromebooks online and connected to all my tools.  It hasn’t always been easy, but you get out into the classrooms and make things work—even if it takes listening to me teach for an hour or two while you diagnose the issues.  Again, thank you!

Stephanie Thompson and Mandy Poche:

Thank you both for taking the time to find new tools that enhance the learning experience.  All of your suggestions have been tried, and I still use most of them in my classroom.  Thank you for the training and for pushing us to find what works for our kids.

Faculty and Staff of Devall Middle School:

I want to thank each of you for your desire to be at the lead on this technology initiative.  Without you pushing students in your classrooms and pushing yourselves every day to learn and use new things, none of this would be possible.  I appreciate your willingness to try new things and for allowing me to help you with issues.  As we work through them together, I have learned so much about what I do in my own classroom.  Finally, technology aside, you are without a doubt the best group of teachers I have ever worked with—personally and professionally.  Your desire to see each student succeed inspires me daily.  A special shout out here to several teachers:

Ms. Johnson – Thank you for using what you learn and then showing me new things.  You rock!

Ms. C. West – Thank you for struggling and coming for help and taking notes and ultimately, figuring it all out.  You are an inspiration.

Mrs. Wall – For teaching me about routines and procedures.  I couldn’t make my technology work without those!  Thank you!

Mrs. Kari Wall:

I could not accomplish much without the love and support of my wife, Kari.  Thank you for always pushing me to be the best teacher and man I can be.  Thank you for listening when I struggled to get this program or that to do what I wanted.  Thank you for believing in me.

Just in case I left anyone out, I apologize.  I work for the best school district in Louisiana.  I want to say a special thank you to my students.  I could not have won any awards without their persistence in learning the tools.  Now that they have them mastered, we no longer focus on technology.  We focus on Social Studies!  You guys are the Region II( State Actually!) Students of the Year in my book!
